Karnataka: Class 5, 8, 9 and 11 Board Exam Cancelled

The High Court has quashed the board exam notification for classes 5, 8, 9 and 11. Phew! This means no more last-minute cramming or exam stress for these students this year.
Why were the exams cancelled?
Private school associations challenged the exams, arguing they violated the Right To Education Act's (RTE) continuous evaluation model (CCE).
What is CCE?
The continuous evaluation model (CCE) emphasises assessing students throughout the year, not just through final exams.
How does this decision impact students?
This decision is a big win for students who may have felt pressured by these exams. They can now focus on learning and development throughout the year.
Are all students in Karnataka impacted?
The decision applies only to the Karnataka state board syllabus. Students appearing for other boards (like CBSE or ICSE) will still have their exams as scheduled.
When were these exams introduced?
The Karnataka government had introduced these board exams in the 2022-23 academic year.
Exams cancelled for Classes 5, 8, 9 & 11, promotes continuous learning as per RTE Act.
