Why is AIBE Mandatory for Law Grads?
The Bar Council of India (BCI) conducts and issues the Certificate of Practice (COP) to qualified AIBE exam candidates, which allows them to practice Law in India.
What is AIBE Exam?
AIBE (All India Bar Examination) is a national-level entrance exam for law graduates who are willing to practice law in India. The exam is conducted by BCI twice a year.
Importance of CoP
CoP is a Certificate of Practice that the BCI issues. For legal practices, the CoP is mandatory as one will not be legally allowed to represent clients in any Indian court without the CoP.
AIBE Eligibility Criteria 2024
- A 3 or 5-year LLB degree from a recognized university in India.

- Min. 45% marks for UR category candidates.

- Min. 40% marks for reserved category candidates.

- Provisionally registered Advocate with the State Bar Council.
Candidates Exempted from the AIBE Exam
- Candidates who have completed their 3-year or 5-year LLB degree before 2009-2010.
- Law graduates who have completed their degrees before 2008.
AIBE Exam Age Limit
